Kolkata: The council for inspection of Indian school certificates on Friday announced new dates for the ISC and ICSE first semester exam.
The ISC exam will begin on November 22 and end on December 20, while ICSE will be held from November 29 to December 16.
A round, signed by the Head of the Executive Board and Secretary of Gerry Arathoon, was sent to the Principal with a new schedule.
It also states that the exam will be carried out in offline mode at the school of each candidate.
Safe! You have managed to throw your voteogin to see the ISC exam results will be a length of one and a half hours.
Most ICSE papers will be one hour long, although some like hindi and math will be for one and a half hours.
The ISC exam will begin at 14:00 while the ICSE will start at 11 am.
This has been done to clean the school premise between two tests, the principal said.
While ISC will start with English literary paper on November 22, ICSE will start with English papers on November 29.
Circular also said that in addition to the time scheduled for each exam, additional 10 minutes will be given to reading the paper.
Ask the book-cum-answer booklet will be given 10 minutes ahead of the scheduled time.
Previously, the Board had planned to hold an online exam for the first semester of November 15 for ISC and ICSE.
The Board has given students options to take tests both from home or school.
Most candidates have chosen to write from home because their parents think it is a safer choice.
On October 22, the Board has sent a circular to postpone the exam for “reasons beyond control (they).
Circular circular Friday clarified that the council had received a large number of letters from the principal, students and parents who said that there was no availability of devices, the power supply and Irregular networks and bandwidth will make an online test.
Therefore, decisions are made to switch to offline mode.
The principal sounded happy with that step.
“At least this provides a platform even for all children to write a test,” said Rupkatha Sarkar, Principal of La Martiniere for girls.
“When the exam was postponed, students were very disappointed.
We have also done a lot of preparations for online tests and a little confused, but we know that the council is working on something better,” said John Bagul, South City’s international school principal.
“We feel relieved.
We will now wait for the council to hold a meeting and give us the details of the offline exam modality,” said Richard Gasper, St.
Augustine’s headmaster, Kolkata.
The principal wonders whether the paper-answer paper booklet will contain OMR sheets that will be automatically corrected and make declarations of results faster.
Some feel that there are chances of normal sheets where students must check or circle the correct answer.
