Srinagar: After a two-year-old gap, Kashmir Pandits issued a Janmashtami procession to celebrate Lord Krishna’s birthday here on Monday.
In the midst of strict security arrangements, the procession began with the Ganpatear temple in the Habba Lizard area in the city and passed Kralkhud, Barbarshah before reaching the clock tower in the historic Lal Chowk, officials said.
They said the procession crossed the Amirakadal bridge, passed Jehangir Chowk and returned to the temple.
Worshipers, including men, women and children, dancing with trains and candies distributed among people.
A senior citizen among worshipers said after two years they were allowed to take the Janmashtami procession in Srinagar.
There was no procession by 2020 because Covid-19 while locking was charged after limiting the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019 had led to the cancellation of the event.
