The Jordanian military killed 27 in a shootout with Syria Smugglers

Amman: The Jordanian military said Thursday that the troops had killed 27 allegations of smugglers who tried to enter the country of Syrian neighbors.
Reports on the Army website said that it had thwarted several allegations of efforts to smuggle drugs into Jordan from Syria, and that a large number of narcotics sized in separate interventions also injured several people.
The military said that “continues to apply the rules of new involvement set and will attack with iron fists and deal with strength and firmness with infiltration or smuggling efforts to protect the border.” Earlier this month the military said a military officer was killed in a shootout with smugglers along the long porous border shared with Syria.
Jordan is home to more than 650,000 Syrian refugees who fled the civil war that had rampaged there for more than a decade.
In September, Syrian and Jordan officials discussed the security of the border after Syrian government forces arrested the rebel area along the Jordanian border.
A month later, King Jordan Abdullah II spoke with Syrian President Bashar Assad for the first time in a decade after the two countries reopened the main border intersection.
