Kochi: The High Court on Friday changed the name of the Suo Motu case about prevention of animal atrocities as ‘in Re: Bruno’ (in Bruno’s problem) and said it was the right award for poor dogs.
This pill was initiated by the court after a terrible murder of a dog named Bruno by three young children at Adimathura Beach in Thiruvananthapuram on June 28.
While directing to change the name of litigation of public interest (pill), the justice division bench AK Jayasankaran.
Nambiar and Justice Gopinath P said, “We feel that this will be the right award for Malang dogs who give up on human atrocities, and are disturbed by the incident where we have initiated this process.” Bench asked the government to tell what actions had been taken to bring justice.
The court said examples of cruelty of animals reported in recent years have often been a concern and that he believes that the government must use affirmative action to alleviate their misery.
Furthermore, the court directed the Indian animal welfare council (AWII) to immediately develop a plan of appropriate action to create awareness and sensitiveness of citizens for animal rights and their duties and responsibilities in that matter.
Direct steps needed in this case so that the terrible incident reported in several times did not recur in the future, the bench said while asking AWBI to submit a report in one month.
In order, the court also said the Animal Hospital and Allied Infrastructure Facilities in this country desperately needed an increase and asked the state government to take action.
The court then said the government must also direct the local body to comply with the obligation of the law in providing animal shelter, dog pounds, livestock warehouses, etc.
The government must also …
empower the district administration to ask coincidental density to animals and byelte apartments prevent residents to keep their pets of choice.
The court appointed Senior Advocate S Ramesh Babu and advocated TC Suresh Menon as Amici Curiae in this case.
