Hyderabad: Four people allegedly involved in stealing nearly Rs 50 lakh cash from the ATM by making machine damage while being arrested by the police manerial on Saturday.
Manserial police said accused – Robin Khan, Sahib, Harish, his three of Nuh, and Ejaj Ahmed Khan, Palwal residents – came from Haryana.
They have 30 ATM cards and Rs 2.70 lakh cash confiscated from them.
They form gangs and take flights to different places to do the Heist ATM.
Allegations reported buying keys from abroad.
By using this key, they can open the top of the ATM machine.
“Using an ATM card, they will make a transaction to withdraw money.
When the machine makes the sound counting the record, before cash is issued, the defendant turned off the engine,” said Commissioner of the Manshil Mahajan police assistant to Ti.
Then, they will contact customer service and submit a complaint who tells that money is not discarded from the machine.
Even though the engine suddenly turns off, the machine will spend cash or allow anyone to put their fingers into the spending slot to withdraw money out.
“This slot is only in several ATM models from certain public sector banks.
The defendant came to know about it and began to commit violations,” the officer said.
Before doing two violations on two different dates in Manherial, the defendant was in Chennai, Jaipur and other places and allegedly committing a similar violation.
Fraud was revealed after a bank official filed a police complaint that informed about incompatibility in cash ATMs.
After this, the police deployed personnel at a different ATM center.
The four defendants went to ATM where two went inside while the other two stood outside and notified the customer that the machine was not functioning.
Because of suspicion, the police team went inside and found an open ATM machine.
The fourth was immediately arrested.
