Nagpur: Gadchiroli police on Friday arrested the key leaders ‘Thiya Andolan’ at Etapalli in South Gadchiroli and drove villagers who gathered at the location.
The police gathered a senior member of ZP Sainu Gota, Sheela Gota, Activist Ramdas Jarate, Nitin Pala, Amol Markum and others around 5am.
Protesters have gathered from the Surjagarh iron ore mining project and rented another mine in the backward district on October 25 at Etapalli for Morcha.
About 300 people have camped on the site since then.
Although State Minister Vijay Wadettiwar decided to lead protests but then did not appear.
Party colleagues and senior leaders Gadchiroli said Wadettiwar was involved in another place.
ADV Lalsu Narote, also ZP members, have left the place before and cannot be detained.
Gadchiroli SP Ankit Goyal has used action after talks between protesters and collectors of Sanjay Meena failed a day ago.
Senior police officers have not made an official statement as a situation in this district boiling with tension.
