Kuala Lumpur: The biggest party on the Malaysian Ruler Alliance said Thursday that it would withdraw support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin immediately and urged him to make a way for a new leader.
This announcement is a political bomb that can trigger general elections and potentially trigger the collapse of the government of Muhyiddin if he refuses to stop.
Muhyiddin took power over March 2020 after he resigned from the former alliance of verdict and united with the Malaysian National Organization, or UMNO, and other parties to form a new government.
But Umno is not happy to play the second violin to Muhyiddin’s own Malay party.
Umno President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the Muhyiddin government failed to curb Pandemi Coronavirus which caused economic difficulties.
He urged Muhyiddin to resign and gave a way for a temporary leader to take over until the pandemic makes it easy and the general election could be held.
