Kolkata: by Durga Puja, some of the main stretches of South Kolkata will be free of cable chaos.
Cable operators, multi-system operators and internet service providers will take the cleaning drive along two stretches – between Exide Crossing and Hazra crossing along Ashutosh Mukherjee Road and between Purna Cinema and Lansdowne Market with Ramesh Mitra Road.
Two stretches together consist about 3 km.
“We will take jobs along the two stretches immediately and complete them by Durga Puja.
We will complete a one kilometer stretch between Exide Crossing and Minto Park along the AJC Bose Road,” said Tapash Das, Tapvener with all Bengal Cable TV & Broadband Operators United Forum.
The fiber optic cable and coaxial cable will dress along the two sidewalks ashutosh Mukherjee Road like the AJC Bose Road.
The cable will be collected along one sidewalk Ramesh Mitra Road.
In Kasba, cables are grouped together to run along the post of lights in the middle of the road.
The pilot project shifted underground cable in Harish Mukherjee Road will also be completed before the pujas.
“The progress of work is hampered by heavy rain recently.
But we hope to continue immediately after there is dry mantra,” said the watershed.
The cable has been dressed and held along the Belvedere Road, Alipore Road, Hakes Court Road, Baker Road and Parkside Road.
