Patna: Bihar continues to do a ‘poor’ in terms of urban sanitation even as Jharkhand neighbors receive awards for the same thing.
While Jharkhand is given because it is at the top of 14 states having less than 100 urban local agencies (ULB) under Swachh Survekshan 2021 but with sharp contrast, Bihar is below the list of 13 countries with more than 100 ULBs.

Cities are evaluated under four direct observation, citizen feedback, service level progress and certification of each of the 1,500 values ​​last year.
This year is converted into three categories – Citizens Voice (Feedback, Engagement, Experience, Swachhhtha and Innovation Application) – 1,800 Signs, Certification (ODF, ODF +, etc.) – 1,800 Signs and Progress Levels of Service, Processing and Disposal, and Sanitation Sustainable) – 2,400.
As per the statement issued by Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), Patna secured the highest sign in the category of residents’ voices.
Country capital received 1,341 out of 1800 marks, making it to the 174th place of a total of 4320 cities in the category.
Overall 4,77,849 people in the country participated in voting on sanitation in ULB respectively, where the highest number of 2,01,662 people participated in Patna.
In the ‘Service Level Progress’ category, the Patna sign increased from 105.16 at 2020 to 1098 in Swachh Sarvekshan, 2021.
Patna, in fact, got the highest score in this category.
State capital performance also increases in the ‘certification’ category.
From Nile last year, Patna got 300 signs this year in this category because it has been given ODF (free defecation) – plus certificates.
Patna Mayor Sita Sahu said the Civic Agency has shown an increase by introducing various new sanitation activities, including eliminating waste from all 75 wards, construction of composting holes and mass awareness activities.
“While PMC is trying to develop infrastructure needed to improve sanitation scenarios in the city, residents will also instill net habits in their daily lives,” said Mayor.
Kota Commissioner Patna Himanshu Sharma also requested cooperation from all state capital residents to make city cleansers and provide feedback to improve sanitation services.
“PMC continues to put efforts to provide quality citizenship services and residents are also expected to fulfill their responsibilities by sending their feedback and complaints through our cellular and mobile applications,” he said.
