The latest IPCC report ‘might be the last signal’ to take concrete actions against climate change: India

New Delhi: India on Friday said the recent IPCC report on climate change “may be the final signal” to take concrete actions against the global environmental challenges.
Speaking at the Seventh Health Meeting of the Minister of Environment 2021, the Minister of Environment Union Bhupender Yadav said the countries of BRICS – Brazil-Russian-India-Africa-South – can play an important role in overcoming contemporary global challenges, loss of biodiversity, air pollution, plastic waste sea, among others.
He stressed the need to take concrete and collective global actions on the global environment and climate challenges, guided by equity, national priorities and circumstances, and the principles of “general but different responsibilities and their respective capabilities (CBDR-RC), said the Ministry of Environment , A statement.
Referring to the findings of the inter-governmental panels regarding the contribution of the Work Group (IPCC) contributing to the sixth assessment report ‘Climate Change 2021: Physical Science’, said Yadav, “maybe enough, maybe the last signal, to take concrete collective global actions against Global environmental and climate challenges.
“The BRICS meeting was held almost at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in the capital under the chairman of India and was attended by the Minister of Environment from BRICS NATICES.
The meeting chair, Yadav said India provides very important for BRICS and 2021 is a very important year not only for BRICS but overall The world too, as the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP) 15 and the UN framework convention on climate change (UNFCCC) is scheduled to be held in October and November.
He stressed that BRICS countries can play a very significant role in overcoming global challenges contemporary of climate change, loss of biodiversity, air pollution, sea plastic litter, etc.
The Minister of Environment told the Minister of Brics that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India currently leads by giving an example by taking a few strong steps in the energy sector renewable, sustainable habitat, Carbon science sinks through the closure of forests and trees, transitions to sustainable transportation, e-mobility, mobilizing private commitments to make private commitments, etc.
“BRICS countries become hotspots for biodiversity can notify the world how we have preserved the mega diversity since time immemorial, and can also play a very significant role in fighting Covid-19 pandemics,” he said.
In the meeting, the Minister of Environment adopted the New Delhi statement about the environment, which was also intended to advance the spirit of cooperation for continuity, consolidation and consensus in the environment between BRICS countries.
The main area proposed in the statement of the Minister of Environment BRICS, 2021 was guided by a problem, which might have the advantage in COP 15 and COP 26.
