The lens on violations of the Covid protocol in the Bidhannagar market

Kolkata: Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) together with Bidhannagar police have begun to raid on the market to check whether the Covid safety protocol is being followed or not.
Seventeen people were arrested from Baguiati Market on Tuesday and 23 other people were arrested from Pasar Ktergic and Arjunpur on Wednesday to violate the Covid safety protocol.
BMC officials said that the arrest was made because it was not wearing a mask and spreading Covid security norms.
Among them are several sellers and several customers, along with those who look chatting and moving inside and outside the market and come with a bicycle without wearing a mask.
Some other people were warned and released by handing them masks.
Officials say that more attacks like that on the market will follow.

There are currently 16 micro detention zones in the BMC area, the highest among all Civic’s body areas in the 24 North Parganas district.
On average 10 12 new Covid cases every day are reported from the BMC area.
