Mumbai: BJP in BMC on Thursday opposed the proposal submitted at the Civil Committee meeting to refer to the park in Govandi after the deception of the sultan.
They said that the deception of the Sultan pampered himself in the forced conversion of Hinduism among other atrocities carried out and therefore had demanded the park named as Maulana Azad or Havildar Abdul Hamid – from the Indo-Pak War in 1965.
In a letter sent to the Civic Chairman of the Garden Committee and The market, the corporator nominated by BJP Bhalchandra Shirs said that when the party did not oppose Muslim names but the deception of the Sultan opposed Britain only for his personal benefit in an effort to defend his own fort.
“How civil parks are named after the rulers hanging hundreds of Hindus, destroying thousands of temples, changing Hindus and oppressing women.
Sena Shiv by not allowing members of our party to speak indirectly show off their support,” Shirsat said.
Local Corporator Rukhsana Siddique, from the Jamajwadi Party, who has proposed the name says that the deception of the sultan is called a Mysore tiger.
“He bitterly opposed the British government in South India, submitted a threat to the grave to the East Indian company.
The reason I propose a name to be given before the garden work is finished is because the procedure for giving a long name and I feel that the name can be approved when the park is ready for Opened, “Siddique said, added that the garden plot was outstanding before they decided to take it for greening.
The BJP Party illuminated the Mumbai Cabin Mayor Kishori Pednekar on Thursday afternoon, however, they were told that no decision was taken about it because the work was incomplete.
“Every corporator has the right to propose a name for the park in their ward; but when the works in the park do not complete the proposal refered again,” said Pednekar added that there were civil facilities in the city named after the Sultan.
In the Malad, the Civic playground in Malwani has the name of the deception of the sultan.
Corporate Congress Qamar Jahan Siddique said that the playground was named after a few years who returned as proposed by local MLA.
