The locals were afraid of lion relocation when five big cats were arrested for ‘examination’

Ahmedabad / Rajkot: Villagers and fans of wildlife have caused upset of the arrest of five Asiatic lions recently from the forest area ordered in Rajula.
The Department of Forest officials believed that five female lions had been arrested for reasons of health monitoring, given a large number of deaths in the region in recent months.
“There are 45 lions of death since January this year in the East and Shretunjay Gir Division and we have arrested five lions for the purpose of health monitoring,” said a senior forest official official.
In January this year, eight lions were arrested from the Jetpur area, continued to be locked up for a month without the right reason before they were released after lion activists.
Lovers of wildlife and locals are afraid that similar treatments can be worn on this great wild cat.
Five female lions, including three adults and two sub-adults, were arrested from the Port Pipavav on Wednesday night and the Port Authority was recently written to the Ministry of Forestry to move the lion from the area, said government sources.
“The five lions caught are part of the same pride whose video moves in the port has become a recent viral,” said a further source.
Congress Mla Amrish Der from Rajula Constitution said that some local residents told him on Wednesday about the Ministry of Forestry had established five cage traps to capture lions.
“We have talked to government officials but there seems to be no clarity if this lion will be released back in the area where they are arrested,” Der said.
The Wildlife Warden head has on July 7 issued a written direction to monitor the health of the lion in the Port Pipavav area, said the source.
Five lions have been taken to the center of saving of Jasadhar animals.
DT Vasavada, Head of Forest Conservator (Wildlife Circle) told TII, “We have arrested a lion for health checks following the death report in the area.
We will free them after all reports are negative confirmed.
We have checked roughly and found no problems with health They, but we want to make sure.
“” We want our lion back, we will launch a widespread protest, “said Pratap Beariya, Sarpanch from Uchadiya Village.
