The longest January cold day spell for Delhi since 2015

New Delhi: Delhi and its surroundings to see the longest cold day spell in January since 2015, according to the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD).
Several stations recorded cold day conditions for seven to 10 days so far in January.
Before this, the longest spell of cold day conditions was observed for 11-13 days in January 2015.
The coldest station in the past week in the national capital was Narella, Jafarpur, Ayanaagar, Palam and Ridge when they recorded ‘cold days’ conditions almost every day .
Meeting with officials said the highest cold intensity between January 15 to January 18 this year.
Fog or low clouds along with the wind pattern causing cold conditions, they stated.
Narella on Wednesday recording a maximum temperature of 14.7 degrees Celsius, five degrees below normal.
The temperature of the day in Safdarjung, which is a city base station, and Lodhi Road respectively 18.1 and 18.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
“The lower maximum temperature is recorded in the situation located on the outskirts compared to those in Delhi such as Safdarjung and Lodhi Road, which is more urban.
This is scientifically suitable for global cities because the low temperature is largely recorded in lower urbanization patches because they have a greener area and water source.
However, urban canopies have different soil surfaces because it absorbs more heat and makes it relatively warmer because of the lower moisture during the intense winter period, “said RK Jenamani, a senior scientist at IMD.
According to IMD, ‘Cold Day’ was announced when a minimum temperature below 10 degrees Celsius and the maximum departure of the normal temperature was 4.5 degrees or higher.
A ‘severe cold day’ is stated when the maximum departure of normal temperature is 6.5 degrees or higher.
Meet officials said the condition of a cold day was not possible on Thursday.
“As Western disorders are expected to have an impact on the area, the temperature can rise.
However, because the condition of rain and cloudy is expected on January 22 and 23, the temperature of the day may fall,” said Jenamani.
Meanwhile, the capital air quality index continues to remain in the ‘very poor’ category with 322 readings on the index.
