New Delhi: The lowest level of inflation in Delhi among the five metro cities in 2020-21, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Friday.
The Kejriawal government keeps prices under control in Delhi even during Covid-19, he claims.
Delhi is more affordable to live compared to other cities and food prices in the city are “lowest” in this country, he said.
Releasing the annual price index report prepared by the Directorate of Economic and Statistics, Sisodia said the average annual inflation rate of growth based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in 2020-21 was only 3 percent in Delhi compared to 5 percent.
The Kejriawan government “managed efficiently” to maintain inflation under control in Delhi even during Covid-19 and it is the lowest inflation rate among the five metro, Sisodia, which is also Delhi’s finance minister, said.
“In 2020-21, the increase in inflation in Delhi was 3.0 percent while Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and Bengaluru registered 4.4 percent, 4.4 percent, 4.1 percent and 4 percent,” he said, adding to the government’s cornerstone to commit to Ordinary people and will always stand with him.
“The timely steps adopted by the Government of Kejriawal, maintaining commodity prices in Delhi are stable during the Covid-19 period and do not increase much.” The government continues to monitor the price of important commodities, “said Deputy Minister of Chief.
The national inflation rate for food prices was 5.7 percent while it was recorded only 4.1 percent in Delhi, the lowest in this country, he said.
The housing index of the price index Consumers see a 5.2 percent increase in India in the financial year of 2020-21, but in Delhi, only 3.9 percent, Sisodia was highlighted.
The Delhi government made regular efforts to control and stabilize commodity prices through market intervention, he said.
