Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh witnessed the lowest crime rate in 2020 in cruel crimes such as rape, murder, and theft in the past seven years since 2013.
The latest data was released by the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) on Wednesday.
Rape cases were dipped from 3,050 in 2013 to 2,769 by 2020, registering a decline of almost 10%.
Similarly, the number of murders fell from 5,047 in 2013 to 3,779 – 25% reduction.
Theft was too shrinking from 41,949 in 2013 to 33,250, registering nearly 21% of the decline.
ADG, Law and Order, Prashant Kumar told TII, “If we see NCRB records, the level of cruel crime such as rape and murder has declined from 2017 and so on.
