Madurai: The couple from Arapalayam was arrested by city police after they killed their son, who was suspected of being a drunkard, and burned the rest on Friday.
CCTV footage shows that the pair carries the body on a bicycle before throwing it on the banks of the Vaigai river.
On Friday, the police were told about the burning corpse found under the wall on Jalan Vaigai Thenkarai.
Investigation by Karimedu police, the deceased was identified to become M Manimaran, 43, from Arapalayam.
The police said that CCTV recordings from the area showed the elderly pair carrying a gunny bag on a bicycle.
When the couple was questioned, it was revealed that they were Manimaran’s parents – Durugesan, 72, and his wife, M Krisnisceni, 55, and they claimed the murder.
The police said that Manimaran was a drunkard and used to regularly abuse his parents, especially his mother, and was often involved in a drunken fight.
On Thursday night, he had a fight with his parents and parents started beating him with sticks or sticks.
Manimaran suddenly fell unconscious and the couple considered him dead.
The police said it was not clear whether he died or died when his body was on fire.
The couple made plans to bring the body in a gunny bag on their bicycle and burn it on the banks of the river.
When the manemaran has divorced and remains separate from his wife and family, his parents have thought that no one will look for him.
Karimedu police registered a case under the IPC 302 and 201 section for murder and caused the loss of evidence and captured the couple.
