Thiruvananthapuram: The fortress police here on Tuesday arrested a 25-year-old man on charges of armed robbery from a young man after his luring him into the honey trap.
The police identified the defendant as Wisnu, 25, from Kalippankulam near Manacaud.
The police said that the defendant created a false account on social media using his own image and wife name and established friendship with a complainant, who lived in Nedumangad.
He used to chat with a complainant and gained his belief.
He then invited a complainant to the city with a meeting directly.
The complainant appears in the Temple of Attukal according to their plan.
But, instead of a friend, the complainant was welcomed by Wisnu and his friends, who forcibly took him to a remote place near Iranimuttom in their vehicle.
They beat him and robbed the money, gold ornaments and the motorcycle registration certificate.
The police have arrested four others in connection with this case a week ago.
Wisnu, who hid in the coastal village of Adimathura was arrested a day ago.
