Pune: Low vaccine supplies and limited participation by private hospitals in the region have led to a slowdown in coverage of covid vaccination in Pune, data from the State Health Department shows on Saturday.
One of the slowing rate indicators is the widening gap between insurance pune and Mumbai – both cities have vaccinated most of the people since the Covid vaccination program began on January 16 (the country’s capital is still prominent).
Over the past few months, Mumbai – with a larger population to be closed – has a lead at least 10 lakh cumulative vaccination over Pune.
But for the last few days of August, the gap has widened to 13 to 14 doses of lakh.
Overall, on July 21, Mumbai has given nearly 67.98 doses of lakh, while Pune is around 57.04 lakh.
On August 14 (according to Cowin), Total Mumbai was at 82.36 lakh, but Pune was 68.67 lakh, which means Mumbai now leads Pune with almost 14 doses of lakh.
Another indicator of the slowdown was the number of people who were vaccinated per session at Pune, which fell to 108 in early August from at least 123 in early July.
As for the lack of vaccines, limited supply earlier this month has left more than 300 civil sites that cannot launch sessions.
The district only received around 90,000 doses for the first 10 days of August.
Sanjay Deshmukh, Assistant Director (Medical), Pune Circle said, “The number of private hospitals carrying out covid vaccinations is much higher in Mumbai than Pune.
It’s too late, many small hospitals in the country’s capital also joined vaccination.
Higher numbers than Pune , where vaccination speeds slowed over the first 10 days of August.
“Deshmukh said except for two days, August 14 and August 12 – when the district received 1.2 lakh and 2.26 lakh doses, respectively – mostly months, so far , have seen limited supplies.
He said that there were only a few thousand cumulative doses between Pune and Mumbai until the end of May.
The gap widened in June and July and further developed in August due to greater participation by private hospitals in Mumbai.
Pune is also allocated a lower number of doses, he added.
“There are also more corporate drives in Mumbai, who have more companies.
The private sector then helps him get a bigger leadership over Pune.
But if someone compares vaccinations by government centers in Pune and Mumbai, the two cities are almost the same,” Deshmukh.
