Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary of the Suresh Chandra Mohapatra on Sunday review the status of medical education and hospitals in Phulbani and direct work department officials to ensure their settlement before the schedule.
Mohapatra, along with senior administrative officials in Kandhamal Regency, visited the site to take stock situations.
This project is intended to serve public health needs in districts dominated by tribes and to improve the medical education system in the state.
Officials said the state government had gave sanctions RS 450 Crore for the construction of 100 seats medical colleges and the same amount for 500 bed teaching hospitals.

During a two-day visit to the district which began on Saturday, the Chief Secretary also took stock of other development initiatives such as the formation of the Grid Station and strengthening the power supply infrastructure and drinking water projects and smart class projects taken under the initiative of 5T.
He held a meeting with senior district officials and directed them to ensure the completion of all projects on the schedule.
When Kandhamal has a major tourism potential, the main secretary said the government took steps to attract tourists to the district by developing tourist attractions.
Mohapatra said the ECO retreat, a glamping festival organized by the State Tourism Department, will be held in Demaribadi in Kandhamal for the next five years to attract tourists.
