The majority of micro composting centers have not yet operated

Coimbatore: City corporate plans to decentralize the handling of organic waste have reached a lump because only 12 of the 69 proposed micro composting centers (MCC) are currently operating.
The centers are expected to treat garbage collected from each region, reduce transportation costs and examine greenhouse gas emissions.
The civil body has proposed to build 69 MCC throughout the city at a cost of Rs 46.18 Crore under the Smart City scheme.
While 59 of them are expected to handle up to five tons of waste per day, 10 is expected to treat two tons.
They are expected to be ready in September.
But only 30 have been built “Civic’s body should have overcome this problem by creating awareness.
In addition, there is a very delay in completing work and bringing those who are finished, used.
The delay is one of the reasons for poor rating in the Swayhh Surveshhan survey,” said an activist to Toi.
“While the vellalore dumping page struggles to overcome the amount of waste produced from the city, PKS can play an important role in disposing of garbage.” The corporate commissioner King Gopal Sunkara said that work was being used to use PKS.
“While some have engineering problems resulting in leachate blockages, some are waiting for an electrical connection.
Correction work is ongoing and they will be immediately handed over to the Ministry of Health for the operation,” he said.
“Despite the high MCC operating costs, we are determined to fully utilize them,” Sunkara added.
Planning to publish retenders for nine MCC, a senior official said.
Twenty-three of them were mired in the problem when residents opposed them, he said.
