Ghaziabad: Mohit Goel, who was accused of being a “Freedom 251” phone fraud and dried fruit fraud 200 Crore, was arrested from Greater Noida on Monday.
The arrests have been made in separate cases, police said.
On August 19, Indirapuram Resident Vikas Mittal had filed a fir shot against Goyal and five others accused the fraud of Rs 41 Lakh.
Goel’s house in Greater Noida was raided on Monday and he was arrested.
“He had cheated Vikas Mittal Rs 41 Lakh and when the victim faced him, he was threatened.
On August 19, the defendant tried to run Mittal by a car.
Mittal was injured and on the same day, he filed a complaint against Goel,” said Sanjay Pandey, Sho , Indirapuram.
Furthermore, a FIR was registered in the IPC 420 section (cheating), 384 (extortion), 386 (extortion by placing someone in fear of death), 323 (voluntarily causing injury), 504 (intentional insults with the intention to trigger violations), 506 (intimidation), 307 (murder efforts) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).
“Following FIR, the team from the Ghaziabad police raided Goel’s house and arrested him.
The other five were crowned in FIR,” added Pandey.
In 2017, Goel had tried to sell smartphones “Freedom 251”, respectively for Rs 251.
He had arrived with the cheapest smartphone on the market.
Then that year, he was picked up for his involvement in fraud.
He was also arrested in a case of extortion in 2018.
Goel has run a company called Dubai Dry Fruits and Spices Hub from the office complex in Sector 62, Noida.
The police said they had received at least 40 written complaints from fraud against companies from traders in Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and other countries.
There are 35 cases of cheating and other crimes registered against Goel throughout the country, police said.
