New Delhi: A 42-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by several unknown attackers in West Delhi, police said on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Chhotu RAM aka Manoj, a resident of Faridpuri in West Nagar Patel, they said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (center) Shweta Chauhan said the police station Patel Nagar received PCR’s call regarding the incident on Friday.
Manoj, an electrician, was stabbed on the left side of his stomach and was declared dead by a doctor at the RML hospital, the police said.
CCTV footage from the place shows two people running.
A wounded man was walking behind them and he fainted near a motorcycle.
He stood but once again fell on the road, they said.
Cases have been registered and investigations are underway to arrest the perpetrators, they add.
Manoj’s younger brother, Bablu said that his brother returned home from work when he was attacked.
“Manoj returned home while talking with his wife by telephone.
He tells him that he will reach the house in five minutes and ask him to get ready to go to the market Friday to shop ‘Karwa Chauth’,” said Bablu.
After 20-25 minutes, Manoj’s wife received a call to ask her to reach the hospital, he added.
“I learned that the incident occurred around 8:15 a.m.
on Friday.
Three people arrested him (Manoj) when he was on his way home and tried to seize his things.
One of them took out the knife and stabbed him.
He also tried to chase them but collapsed On the road.
“An e-rickshaw driver, who knew my brother, came there and went to the employer (Manoj).
Then, they took my brother to the hospital in e-rickshaw, “said Bablu.
A native resident of Rajasthan, Manoj survived his wife, a 13-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter.
He is Sole Breadwinner from the family, according to Bablu.
