Thiruvananthapuram: The rural district police have confirmed that the death of a 54-year-old woman, whose body was found on the railroad near Kadakkavoor more than 10 days ago, was a murder case.
They also arrested a man in connection with this case.
The police identified the defendant as Mohanan, 55, from Bhajanamadam near Kadakkavoor.
Jessi, 54, an insurance agent who lives in Vakkom under the Head of the Kadakkavoor Police Station, is the deceased.
He was found dead on the railroad near the Ayanthi Bridge near Varkala.
The police were initially under the assumption that it could be a suicide case as a place where the body was found was a remote area where many suicide by jumping in front of the train moved in the past.
However, the police launched a detailed investigation after the Jessi family showed that the gold ornaments he was wearing lost from the body.
Police immediately launched a detailed investigation using the scientific method and focused on Mohanan, with whom Jessi maintained a close relationship.
The police said that Jessi, a widow with two daughters, maintained a close relationship with Mohanan.
They even have several financial transactions between them.
“Mohanan has asked for financial assistance from him to go abroad for work, which he can’t give.
On the day of the crime, Mohanan took him to the crime scene in a car rickshaw pretending to introduce it to a new potential client for insurance policies.
He then strangled him using his saree and threw away on the railroad and left.
Investigation was led by the Kadakkavoor Station Officer station Inspector V Ajesh under the supervision of Varkala DSP Niyas.
The police also recovered one ornament from Mohanan’s residence.
He told the police that he had sold other ornaments in jewelry.
He even secured a visa to the Gulf country using the money and planned to immediately run away when the police arrested him.
