Kanpur: A man was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing a 22-year-old cousin sister after a failed rape effort, police said, added that the victim’s body recovered from the underground location opposite his house.
The incident was reported from the village under the boundaries of the Shivli police station at Kanpur Dayat.
The defendant was nabbed and after severe rounding was handed over to the police by the villagers.
The woman’s body recovered from the lower location of the construction located opposite her house on Friday morning.
The woman came to celebrate Rakshabandhan recently with her brothers.
“Because there was no fan installed in his parents’ house and the weather was moist and hot, on Thursday night, he went to bed at his adjacent cousin house,” the police said.
“On Friday morning, when he didn’t go home, his family member asked from his cousin about his whereabouts, he pretended not to know and said he had left his house to their place in the morning itself.
But a member of a female family, because of suspicion then left To his cousin’s house and found his body lying in the lower location of the surrounding construction around it.
They then raised the alarm and then with the help of the villagers arrested their relatives and after struggling that severely handed it to the local police, “said SP Keshav Kumar Chaudhary.
According to the police, the defendant lived alone at home.
The woman is her cousin and sometimes will visit her house.
“On the day of the incident, when he went to his home to sleep, the defendant admitted that he was drunk.
He tried to rape the woman but he began to shout and he slit his throat with a knife,” SP said, added the defendant had been arrested.
“Based on complaints, in addition to the autopsy report, the defendant will be ordered under the relevant IPC section and sent to prison,” said the official further and added, “Meanwhile, the investigation continued and the police were in the process of registering FIR.
Previously, forensic units had gathered Vital evidence of the site.
