Thiruvananthapuram: Police Kazhakkoottam has arrested a 32-year-old man who allegedly tried to kidnap two 13 year old girls returning home after college.
The police identified the defendant as Shaju from Mudapuram.
The police accused the relevant parts of the Pocso law in addition to the allegations of kidnapping under the IPC.
This incident is related to the case in Chembazhanthi on Sunday.
The girls returned home after college when the defendant intercepted him in the car and tried to drag him inside.
But the girls managed to free from his grip and ran to the nearest house looking for help.
At this time, the defendant escaped by car.
The police registered the case and launched the probe as soon as they were told about the incident.
The girls told the police that they watched the same car follow them for three days.
Then, the police track vehicles using visual camera supervision and retrieve the car registration number.
The vehicle occurred under repairs in a car workshop near Kazhakkoottam.
From there, the police learned that the defendant was a workshop employee.
The police also learned that the defendant was a customer, who had a Pocso case delayed by his name at the Attingal police station.
He was produced in front of the court and was returned in legal judges.
