Thane: Anti-extortion cell from the Thane police arrested a 29-year-old man for illegal ownership of the machete knife (Kukri) from the Vartak Nagar area, police said on Sunday.
According to officials, a team of anti-extortion cells led by Senior Inspector Maloji Shinde was warned about the defendant carrying weapons without valid permission.
The defendant’s intercepted team was identified as Akash Shravane (29), near the Chirag Nagar residence and quickly found the knife, following the arrest.
“The defendant did not only carry a weapon without a license but also violated the training orders issued by the Police Commissioner Thane recently held back weapons,” said Senior Inspector Sadashiv Nikam from the Vartak Nagar police station.
Thus, the defendant was arrested under various parts of Maharashtra Act and Weapon acting, among others, police information.
