Thiruvananthapuram: Karamana police on Friday arrested a 28-year-old man, who was suspected of being a member of the Interstate vehicle theft gang.
The arrest was identified as Lukman Hakim, a resident of Beema Palli.
He was arrested from Kulathupuzha in Kollam with respect to MUV theft two years ago.
The owner of the car, the rejin from Amaravila, in his complaint has stated that the judge approached him to find vehicles on rent for the purpose of marriage.
Vehicles are handed over to caramana.
But the judge disappeared by vehicle.
Karamana Sho B Aneesh said that the judge sold a car to someone in Tamil Nadu who was dealing with stolen vehicle trading.
He then left his old phone and the SIM card to avoid being traced and resolved in Kunathupuzha.
Sho said that there was a strong reason to suspect that the judge was part of a larger gang.
After the arrest, he claimed to smuggle another MUV two years ago from the museum police station limit using the same modus operandi.
Meanwhile, Karamana police received a call from a car rental dealer from Pozhiyoor claiming that he had lost two cars through mode operandi and the same judge could be involved with the perpetrators of the crime too.
He told the police that he lost Hyundai i10 and Hyundai Grand I10 rented by the defendant for wedding purposes.
Efforts also to capture the buyer of stolen vehicles in Tamil Nadu, he said.
The police have ordered defendants under the relevant part of theft and fraud.
He was produced in front of the court and returned in the custody of the judiciary.
