Coimbatore: The government train police arrested a 44-year-old man on Friday night because of calling a threat of a hoax bomb.
The police identified the defendant as D Senthilkumar, a resident of Masaniamman Nagar at Velakinar near Thudiangur.
He is an electrician.
According to a police officer, Senthilkumar was under depression and alcoholism after his wife died for Covid-19 a few months ago.
Friday morning, he made a telephone call to the police control room and said two people planned to plant a bomb at the city train intersection.
Detection and disposal forces and pelidic dogs are pressed into the service immediately, but only to realize it is a deception call.
The police team identified the caller and traced his existence to VelPinar.
Senthilkumar was taken for interrogation and was arrested on Friday night.
