Chicago: A Iowa man who was detained in Chicago after police found a rifle with a laser view in a hotel room overlooking Lake Michigan beach during the fourth weekend of July made and then apply for his girlfriend.
Authorities told the cleaning staff members on the hotel to tell the police on Sunday they observe rifles, pistols and ammunition in the room held by Kegan Casteel, 32.
The weapon was found on the threshold of the 12th floor window.
The window has views of the coast of Ohio Street and Navy Pier, the main tourist attraction.
Casteel of Ankeny, Iowa, was arrested at the hotel and faced two charges of using a deteriorating law.
A Cook County judge on Tuesday ordered him to be held as a replacement for bonds of $ 10,000.
Casteel was released on Wednesday and applying for his girlfriend outside the 18th district headquarters, according to WLS-TV.
He seems to accept.
He did not comment on a reporter immediately after his release.
“I understand through the provider of the country and your lawyer that you have permission to have firearms in the state of Iowa,” said Judge David Navarro for Tuesday.
“However, obviously, we are not in Iowa.” David Brown police supervisor said hotel staff members had to be praised for warning the police.
“This employee sees something by entering the room to clean it which is likely to prevent the tragedy from happening,” Brown said Tuesday.
Chocolate records Casteel has no criminal history.
And the lawyer who represented him during hearing Tuesday said Casteel had two children and worked as a car mechanic.
“The assignment officer of terrorism with us argued, interviewed this person with a companion, and we continued this investigation,” said the supervisor.
Brown did not say whether the sympathizers had determined why the man had a weapon in his hotel room.
Police said on Thursday that the department did not have additional information to be released in this case.
