New Delhi: A 20-year-old man allegedly kidnapped in the Ghazipur area and held a captive for three hours by an unknown person in his car at Gun Point, police said on Monday.
The incident took place on December 17, when Kinshuk Agarwal, the son of the owner of the banquet hall in Ashok Vihar, went to Ghazipur bathing with two other people to buy flowers, police said.
There, a man forced him into his car and forced him to direct him to the Ashok Vihar area while threatening it with a gun, they said.
The incident was revealed the next day, when Vikas Agarwal, a resident of Shalimar Bagh, reported police problems.
According to complaints, the defendant took Kinshuk’s phone and called his father and demanded Rs 1 Crore from him to release his son.
Vikas tried to negotiate and urged the defendant to leave his son.
But the defendant threatened to kill his son if he did not pay the number, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Priyanka Kashyap said.
Vikas finally agreed to pay Rs 50 Lakh in the ransom for the release of his son, he said.
He reached Ashok Vihar near the school where the defendant had asked him to come to pay a ransom.
He was forced to sit in the car by the defendant, and when he did it, he took the cash bag from him and instructed the father and son to drop him near Mukann Chowk, the officer said.
In the complaint submitted by the victim’s father, a case below section 364 (kidnapping for Ransom) and criminal intimidation (506) from the Criminal Code and other parts under registered ACT, the officer said.
CCTV footage in and around the crime scene was scanned to identify the culprit and arrest him, police said.
