Gurugram: The police have collected a fine of Rs 7.5 Crore for a mask violation in Gurugram since March 23 last year.
More than 1.51 challans lakh has been issued for a period of one and a half years.
Gurugram police have begun to issue Challans in March last year when Kuncian, because Covid was announced throughout India.
Initially, the police ordered violators under the action of disaster management because they did not wear a mask.
From May 28 last year, the state government made provisions for the fine of RS 500 because they did not wear masks in public places.
The state government has regularly directed officers to build awareness and enforce the rules about wearing facial masks, whose health experts throughout the world have been identified as one of the key defenses – along with social blasphemy and hand washing – against Covid.
Police Commissioner KK Rao said that the total amount collected in a fine was transferred to the Ministry of Health.
AEEM Takyar, a RTI activist who received information about the number of Challash issued by the police, claimed that the police intensified the drive only when the number of cases rose in the city.
Some residents accused that mask rules were not strictly enforced.
“One can see people without masks in public places.
There is a need to create awareness about wearing a mask,” said Sameer Shukla, a resident of Sector 50.
Police officials said they did random checks in public places such as markets and violators were punished for not Wear a mask.
“All ACC and Sho have been directed to drive in their respective regions.
In all checkpoints and markets, the drive is being carried out on such offenders.
