Bengaluru: The matrimonial portal can only facilitate marriage and does not guarantee it, a Bengaluru Consumer Court tells a 35-year-old man who has sued the online matrimonial service provider for RS 3 lakh damage.
He accused the portal of dishonesty and lack in service, claiming to have failed to find prospective matches for him after collecting Rs 59,180 as a registration fee that was non-refundable.
The complainant, which is a resident of Malleswaram, has been registered with Elite Matrimony Services on June 17, 2019 in an effort to find prospective matches.
He had paid Rs 59,180 through a check and was waiting for the profile of the groom.
Bridegroom aspired to claim the portal, which has been advertised to have more than one lakh match for its customers, failed to send a profile even though he became a member for almost four months.
He said when he approached Elite Matrimony’s office with complaints about this problem, he was treated roughly by female staff.
The man approached the rural and urban rural and urban regency of Redressal consumer disputes in Shantinagar with complaints about elite marriage services on October 24, 2019 and looking for refunds of deposits and RS 3 lakh compensation for services that were dishonest and less.
The complainant presented his own case while the portal lawyer claimed the complaint was reckless, annoying and with hidden motives.
Advice for elite marriage services stated that the man chose the package and was given a profile of 14 brides, which he chose two.
He further said the agency was not responsible if the match did not materialize because it was their job only to facilitate this problem.
Destroying complaints on July 23, 2021, the judges observed the online match portal could not ensure a positive response at any time and did not guarantee marriage in the services provided.
In addition, the complainant has not denied the claim that two of the 14 prospective bridal profiles sent by the opposite party were accepted by him, they showed.
