Gurgaon: The State Urban Local Agency Department has approved the construction of a new office for the Corporation Municipal Gurgaon (MCG) in Vyapar Sadan with an estimated cost of Rs 117.6 Crore.
The previous MCG floats tender and selected contractors and proposals have been sent to the ULB department.
Now that the Haryana government has given approval, working on a new office building will begin soon, said MCG officials.
“We have received approval and will issue work orders in two days, after which construction will begin,” said Thakur Lal Sharma, Head of the MCG engineer.
The contractor must start working in 10 days after receiving work orders, officials said.
This project is expected to be completed in 18 months.
The new office building will have 10 floors and three basements with a 450 car parking capacity.
Officials said the Civic’s body only needed six floors and the remaining four floors would likely be rented to generate income.
MCG was based on 2008 and still did not have its own office building.
The building in sector 34 where MCG has his office owned by Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran and the corporation pays for a monthly rent around Rs 20 Lakh.
The new office will have a board office, the mayor and his team, ‘City Hall’ where housing meetings will be carried out, the lounge, citizen facilitation center, library, ATM, and shops.
MCG officials said there would be brushed and Crèche in the new office building, according to the original plan.
City auditorium with 650 seating capacity also mentioned in the planned revision of the new office building, which was submitted at a home meeting on October 2020.

The proposal for building offices at Vyapar Sadan was passed by the MCG head in February last year.
However, the suggested changes in the development plan took officials taking several months due to the pandemic and locking Covid-19.
