The meeting was held to get a handle on a dengue fever in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: To control the situation of dengue fever in the city along with other parts of Khurda Regency, a high-level meeting was carried out by district collectors on Wednesday to discuss prevention steps.
A total of 194 cases of dengue fever have been reported from the capital since January.
Khurda Sanat Kumar District collector Mohanty said he and other officers discussed ways to spread dengue fever to new areas.
“We have emphasized the coordination between departments to fight against threats in the district,” Mohanty said.
He said Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) took different steps to control the situation of dengue fever in his area.
“We also take precautions necessary to stop the spread in rural areas.
Gaon Kalyan Samiti (village welfare committee) will encourage this mission.
They will make the villagers understand the need to destroy mosquito breeding land,” Mohanty added.
The collector said Pancayati members and Shakti missions would be involved in this work to prevent the spread of dengue fever in rural areas.
In Bhubaneswar, BMC will intensify the travel awareness and sanitation work in vulnerable locations.
“We will beg to people in the district, including Bhubaneswar, to help the administration stop threats,” he said.
A BMC official said they had begun to clean the trash and containers in the city park and other places.
“Water accumulates in several damaged and non-functional vehicles parked in several police stations.
The steps will be taken to clean the mosquito breed,” the official said.
The capital on Tuesday reported 14 dengue cases.
