The Metro Rake trial runs on the Vanz-garage college route

Pune: The New Aluminum Metro Rake has become a temporary office for a team of technicians, which sit inside with their gadgets to manage and test the parameters needed during the trial at the Vanaz-Garwware Viaduct Stretch College.
Workers are involved in cable installation work, needed for signaling and other networks, in the coach.
Rake has a trip on the route 5 km which is long almost every day.
Sometimes, it even runs at 80kmph speed as part of the trial.
However, Mahametro said that when it was introduced for commuting, the speed of the rake would remain around 40 kmphr.
Mahametro has booked a total of 34 rakes.
Two more rakes are expected to arrive soon.
This rake consists of three trainers, with each of them having accommodating capacity of 320 passengers and a total capacity of 970 passengers.
The use of aluminum has reduced the weight of the rake and thus will save more energy.
Rake will also have all sophisticated facilities such as CCTV camera networks, air-conditioned coaches, separate rooms for people with physical challenges, automatic door cover systems, electric screen boards, announcement systems, Mahametro said.
A official said, “The thorough examination of Rake is underway at various technical parameters.
Some vital points examined by the expert team include rakes, acceleration, and speed reduction, riding a rake index, noise coach level with various speeds, jerks, braking systems, emergency brake application.
Check also is being carried out on the carrying capacity of the train load.
This means how the rake will run on the full capacity of passengers.
Many checks are being done through the simulation technique to check performance and set parameters “.
According to Mahametro, checks and inspections will continue for a month as minute details needed from every aspect.
Certification will be issued by research design & organizational standards (RDSO) and then by the train board.
Hemant Sonawane, General Manager (PR) at Mahametro said, “Inspection and Rake Certification is a long and technical process.
The team is working all day”.
Rake will receive certification from RDSO and train boards while the track and safety aspects are certified by the Metro Rail Safety Commissioner (CMR).
Other officials said that the sweeping inspection process and the trajectory began last month on a priority stretch because all works had reached in the final stage.
