The metro ran Sunday north-south service after 104 days

Kolkata: Metro rolled on Sunday after 104 days, along the North-South corridor.
The last week’s operation was on May 9, because the service was stopped from May 16, for the second covid wave.
Even when the city transportation location continued on July 16, the state government only allowed a five-day run.
Metro Railway has offered special trains for important workers throughout the sector on Saturday.
Now, the same facilities are available on the seventh day of the week.
But this Sunday service was opened mainly for the candidates for WBCs and their parents, which were allowed to rise after showing the receipt card.
Allowances are also made for important workers with ID cards.
Next week (August 29) and so on, important workers can continue to ride the train.
Since the metro began again after the second covid induced suspension, it has become the backbone of transportation.
Many bus routes are still outside the road.
Taxi taxis and taxi applications are too high for everyday trips, thanks to skyrocketing fuel prices.
Some car owners also took the metro.
“Alhamdulillah, it is also available on Sunday,” said Executive Hotel and Shopper Aritra Das, which took the train from Baranagar.
“I traveled until Rabindra Sarobar was only with Rs 25 and took a car to the South City Mall for Rs 7,” he said.
The metro ran 112 trains from Subha Kavi to Dakshineswar between 10am and 10 nights.
Starting next Sunday, the same number of trains will ply but the service will run at an 8-minute interval during rush hour morning and evening.
Even when the state guidelines allow the metro to run from Monday to Friday, the operator has decided to allow people from important services to use it on Sunday.
