Udhagamandalam: Minister of Forest K Ramachandran examined areas affected by landslips in Ooty on Friday and instructed city officials and highways to repair the earliest road.
Heavy rain on Thursday night has triggered landslips on Jalan Pudumund and Jalan Ooty-Kotagiri.
While some of the retaining walls have collapsed and falls on the Pudumund road, some of Ooty-Kotagiri’s stretch has given up due to rain.
Ramachandran, who examined the two places before MP Nilgiris King, Ooty MLA R Ganesh and other officials, also attended a meeting organized by the Coordination Committee and Monitoring of Regency Development in Tamizhagam in Ooty.
The meeting, chaired by the King, discussed the ongoing project status funded by the United States Union and the state government in the district.
The king has instructed officials to speed up the project.
The meeting saw the participation of district level officials and executive officials from Panchayats City.
