Mumbai: Following complaints from several transporters in Maharashtra, Minister of State for home and Patil Satej transportation has stepped in and convinced them to them not a heavy goods vehicle driver to be harassed by the police.
“I have taken a serious problem.
Transporter said that they were harassed because they did not update documents, licenses, etc.
But the government has provided an extension for document updates to domestic goods operators and public transport bus operators until September 30th.
This will be strictly implemented,” said Patil.
He assured the transport that there would be no abuse by the police for non-renewal of documents until the date was extended.
In a tweet, Patil said “police personnel through the head of their department have been directed to consider the extension given for updates when examining the documents.
The police department will ensure that the document check does not lead to this transporter harassment.”
