Chennai: After finding himself in the midst of controversy over the past week during his GST board meeting was held in Lucknow on September 17, Minister of Finance Tamil Nadu Palanivel Thiamel Rajan appeared to have risen again in this week, with the GST Council of his nomination in the ministerial group (GOM) formed to deliver the Reformation of the GST system.
“It’s nice to be nominated as a GST board member standing GOM on system reform,” Thiaga Rajan Tweeted on Sunday morning, with ‘Namaste symbolically’ to the Nirmala Union Finance Minister and the GST Board.
His tweet on Sunday morning sparked madness with supporters of Thiaga Rajan crashing into those who previously questioned his abilities.

“Hope now work with friends & colleagues to improve the process for the entire India,” added Thiaga Rajan.
Eight GOM members for the GST system reform will have Deputy Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar as organizers.
In addition to Thiaga Rajan, other members included Deputy Minister Delhi Manish Sisodia and Deputy Minister of Haryana Dushyant Chautala and the Minister of Finance from countries Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Assam.
GST GOM system reform will review IT and interface available with tax officers and suggest steps to make the system more effective and efficient, including changes in business processes.
It will also identify potential avoidance sources and suggest changes in business processes and IT systems to plug in income leakage.
The ministerial group will identify the possibility of using data analysis of compliance and better income.
It will also identify mechanisms for better coordination between “Central Tax Administration and Country” and different state tax administration and suggest schedules for recommended changes.
The command from the Ministry of Union for Finance said the GST council at the 45th meeting on September 17 recognized that the IT system had stabilized and there was a need to introduce IT-based checks and balances in the TI GST system.
The Board also recognizes the use of data analysis such as the GSTN BIFA system and emphasizes to expand the use of analytical data in increasing the efficacy and efficiency of GST administration.
Therefore, the Board decided that GOM was formed to guide this process in the future.
The council had previously established two gomet – one for the challenges of IT and others about income mobilization.
“There is a substantial overlap between the second work of Gomi and that from this proposed GOM.
Therefore, system reform is being formed subsumulation of previous GOMS in IT challenges and income mobilization,” said the command.
