Chandigarh: Representatives of trade unions who protested in Punjab on Friday met the Minister’s Committee to discuss their demands to increase salaries and benefits at the Sixth Payment Commission and the state government will now convey their decisions in the next meeting scheduled for 3.
August.
Punjab Sanjha Mansus Convener Sukhchain Singh Khaira said the Minister’s Committee has improved the date of the next meeting on August 3 where the committee is expected to announce the final decision of the state government.
He said the union representative on Friday held a meeting with the Brahm Mohindra cabinet ministers, Balbir Singh Sidhu and O P Soni and Sadhu Singh Dharamsot.
The main secretary of the Ministry of Finance K a P Sinha and the main secretary of the Department of Personnel Vivek Pratap Singh also attended the meeting.
After the announcement of the postponed payment commission, employees have protested throughout the country demanding their basic salary increases and recovery of slash benefits.
