The Ministry of Ayush said relating to Giloy for the damage to the liver ‘really misleading’

New Delhi: The Ayush Ministry on Wednesday denied claims made in a study that the use of Tinospheracordifolia (TC) concoctions, commonly known as Giloy or Guduchi, resulted in liver failure in six patients in Mumbai.
According to reports based on research published in the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hepatology, the journal peer-reviewed of the Indian National Association for the study of the liver, said that the intake of Giloy had produced liver failure in six.

Publications based on incomplete information will open the door for the wrong information and defame the ancient Ayurveda name, the ministry said.
It will not be outside the context to declare here that scientific evidence of TC or Giloy medical applications as a protector of the heart, nerves etc.

There are hundreds of studies of Giloy and its safe use.
Giloy is one of the most common drugs prescribed in Ayurveda.
It has the right pharmacopoeia stand as a place set by the protection of hepato.
“There are no bad events recorded in any clinical practice with any pharmacovigilance or in any clinical study,” the ministry concluded.
