Gurgaon: Anticipating the increase in the case of Covid-19 in November, the Ministry of Health has improved children’s ward at government facilities in the city.
In a civil hospital in the 10 sector, Ward Pediatric ICU 10 beds had been arranged, which included four ventilator beds.
In sector 31 polyclinic, he has established 16 ICU Ward beds for newborns and children, who also have two bed ventilators.
The department has also directed all hospitals to increase their pediatric bed capacity.
According to health officials, it was observed that in the last two covid waves, nearly 12% of patients were under the age of 20 years.
About 5% of them need hospitalization.
Among those who were hospitalized, 3% needed ICU maintenance, while 2% ventilator support needed.
Therefore, the increase in pediatric special capacity is the need for hours, officials said.
“We have directed all hospitals to improve their pediatric beds.
We also asked them to provide updates about the capacity of their beds, oxygen factories, type-D cylinders and pediatric wards.

Virender Yadav.
According to the Ministry of Health, around 4% of cases are children in the second surge, which lasted from April 1 to May 31.
Of the 4,676 infected children, 2% (94) have developed critical symptoms and must be hospitalized, while the rest recover at home.
In the first surge, less than 2% (1,154) cases are children and there is no need for hospitalization.
“When children are vulnerable in the second surge because of exposure to outdoor activities, functions and other social meetings, we have strengthened our pediatric and neonatal icus,” he added.
In Medanta – drugs, around 100 ventilators have been converted into pediatric wards.
At M3M facilities, 100 oxygen pediatric beds have been developed and in Bharat Vikas Parishad at Palam Vihar, 100 bed observation wards for functional children.
Asked when the covid vaccination of children will start, said Yadav, “We collect children’s data between 12-18 years.
We have not received guidance on their vaccination.”
