The Ministry of Health to launch a waste monetization drive

Coimbatore: The Ministry of Health plans to help residents make money from garbage that accumulates in homes as part of the dengue control program.
The department has found garbage accumulates in the backyard and on the terrace, causing stagnation of rainwater and turning it into a space for breeding mosquitoes carrying the dengue virus.
“To prevent such possibilities, health staff have been asked to identify garbage vendors in their area, who can visit houses to collect garbage,” said Deputy Deputy Department of Coimbatore Director of Health Services P Aruna.

“We have instructed the owners of car repair shops, which have displayed tires thrown out in front of their store, to drill a hole in them to drain water,” Aruna said.
