Hyderabad: With dengue fever, tifoid and malaria become endemic for Shaheen Nagar in the old city, a number of cases reported from the region every day.
The mosque clinic at Shaheen Nagar has been in the last 30 days who were treated 569 children suffered from a disease transmitted through vectors of 20 slums.
A survey by a mosque clinic has shown that 51% of the total tifoid cases, 22% of Dengue cases and 2% of malaria cases were reported in a group of 20 slums in the catch of Nagar Shaheen while 15% of cases of typhoid and 11% of Dengue cases were reported in the slums of Rajendra Nagar and the catchment area of Hasanagar in old hyderabad.
Of the 569 children, who received free care including drugs and blood tests in the past month, 421 cases related to Typhoid, 133 cases to dengue fever and 15 cases to malaria.
The mosque clinic is managed by helping the hand foundation in collaboration with the seeds, an NGO based in the US, and American Muslim doctors from India (AMPI).
The mosque clinic serves the health needs of people living around 20 slums scattered in Shaheen Nagar, Hasanagar, Rajendranagar and Achi Reddy Nagar.
The survey revealed that 72% of typhoid cases were children between five and 15 years while 85% of cases of dengue fever were children between the ages of 10 and 18 years.
“Bad sanitation, flowing overflowing, unclear garbage, and a puddle often because heavy rain is the main cause of high incidence of diseases transmitted by vectors.
All typhus cases are treated in outpatient mode.

A total of 15 patients need reception in private hospitals and hospitalization costs borne by NGOs.
Each Tifpoid patient will spend a minimum of Rs 3000 for drugs, laboratory tests and consultations and dengue fever patients will spend at least Rs 2000 for tests and medicine.
By providing free tests and care, the mosque clinic has helped poor people save more than the cost of rs 20 lakh out-of-pocket.
