Mangaluru: Adani Group has restored an old name board and removes the mention of the airport on it.
There are rigid opposition from locals after the Adani Group took over the management of Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) and replaced the existing nameplate with the new airport.
Activists led by Dilaraj Alva have joined hands, demanding the restored Mangaluru International Airport board, and Adani airport dropped.
Drying pressure, the Adani Group has now replaced a signboard, said Diraj.
Overcoming the media here on Saturday, Dilaraj said that last year, after the Adani Group won a contract for Mia’s operations and management, they had replaced the old board.
“Violating the rules of the contract, as part of the branding, they mentioned that the airport was managed by Adani Airport.
We are not happy, because the name Mangaluru is placed on the corner of the signboard, and it will be a threat to tourism in the long run.
During the RTI query, it was revealed that Adani It has no right to change any branding, and the same thing is restored to the previous sign on Friday.
Legal notice is presented in March 2021 to Indian Authority Airport and Director of Mia Airport, questioning Branding Mangaluru International Airport as Adani Airport, “said Diraj.
DiRJ added that changes have also been made on the official Twitter and Facebook account of MIA too.
Mia spokesman refused to comment on developments.
