Ankara: Turkey named Germany Under-21 Coach Stefan Kuntz as coach after parting with the agreement along with Senol Gunes, said the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) on Sunday.
Gunes’s departure last week came after the Dutch defeated Turkey 6-1 at the Amsterdam Arena to move to the G.
Turkish World Cup qualifying group fell to third place in the standings behind Norway after the European Championship campaign and the Liga Nations disappoint.
The German FA said Kuntz would be released from his contract as a coach of the Under-21 team if he took Turkish work.
Kuntz 58 years old, former German striker who also played for Turkish club Besiktas, led the under-21 team of their countries to a European title in 2017 and 2021.
Turkey accommodated Norway in the next World Cup qualifier on October 8.
