Mumbai: Head of Maharashtra Minsiter Uddhav Thackeray condemned the testimony of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Bengaluru.
In a press release that reads, Thackeray said Shivaji was not only the god of “us”, but from all countries, and his insults would not be tolerated.
He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene personally in this matter.
“People who speak Marathi in Karnataka have long been victims and now, there is an incident of the dismissal of our favorite god and the government there is close to it,” he said.
CM reminded Modi that in his speech in the inauguration of the Kashwanath Corridor Candi he had praised the emergence of mighty kings such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj every time there was an effort to destroy the country’s culture.
“The name Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is only used for politics and when our gods are not valued, they do not take action,” he said.
