Panaji: year after year, residents have raised concerns over road engineering in the state, which mainly became a topic of discussion after heavy rainfall leaving the streets ridden or sinking in the present.
Data from the Union of the Ministry of Transportation and Highway (Morus) shows that the concerns of residents are not mistaken.
The nature of the road is the cause of almost a third of the accidents that occur in Goa, the mortgage report said.
Of the 3,440 road accidents that took place in Goa in 2019, 1,160 occurred because of the type of road, which led to 66 deaths, in accordance with the analysis of mortgages on the road.
A total of 729 accidents occurred due to the curvature of the road, killing 35 people, and 127 accidents took place in T-Junction, which led to the death of 25 people.
Accident, five because of a hole, produce one death.
The intersection of four arms was responsible for 181 accidents and nine deaths, while around the intersection saw 79 accidents, killing seven people.
39 other accidents took place at the intersection, causing two deaths.
A total of 1,244 accidents occurred on national highways.
According to Mort’s records, the national highway is being guarded by the State Public Works Department (PWD) and not under the jurisdiction of the Indian National Highway Authority.
One third or 107 of the 297 deaths of accidents on the road reported in 2019 in Goa occurred on national highways, although the state government has started the work of expansion and the real increase of the highway across the length and the breadth of Goa in 2016.

Most of the accidents in Goa or 3,131 occur in bright weather, causing 276 deaths.
In comparison, 21 deaths on the road accident took place during rainy weather.
Foggy’s vision is not reported as the cause of an accident or death.
The majority of accidents reported in Goa involve rider two-wheeled vehicles and riding traces that lead to 1,757 accidents and deaths of 186 people.
