New Delhi: More than 40 warships and submarines, along with combat jets, maritime patrol planes, helicopters, and drones, participated in large exercises carried out by the Navy in the Arabian Sea to perfect the operational and combat plans tactics.
Maritime Exercise with 20 days “Paschim Lehar”, carried out by the Western Navy Command (WNC) under the command of Deputy Laksamana Ab Singh, also aims to increase the synergy between services and the army, IAF and coast guards, officials said on Wednesday.
In the “intra-theater” exercises, which includes mobilization of more than 40 warships and submarines, IAF deployed the Sukhoi-30MKI strike fighters and Jaguar Maritime, IL-78 refueling air and crew (warning systems and air control).
The Navy, in turn, MIG-29K FIELDED fighters, long-term P-8i Maritime Patrol aircraft, Dornier and SD IL-38 aircraft.
“Various army elements include air defense batteries.
After a long gap, many offshore patrol ships, fast patrol ships and air cushion air cushion also participated in the training,” said an officer.
“Various weapons in realistic tactical scenarios, in addition to the validation of operational missions and varied tasks, carried out during training,” he said.
“This exercise provided that all participating in forcing the opportunity to operate together in realistic conditions, in response to contemporary maritime challenges throughout the region of WNC responsibility,” he added.
